    Tell us about yourself and how has fitness shaped who you are today.

    I have always been very active until I had a pretty substantial injury while in the military to my back and neck and afterward. I really began noticing once I hit 35 how managing my diet just wasn't enough to maintain strength and keep weight off. I tried many different methods of exercise, but all seemed to be so painful and aggravated my injury. I was told to try pilates from a friend of mine who also had an injury. I tried at least nine different places, six of which in North County San Diego, and while I was able to do most of the workouts with modification, there were either too many people to one class for the instructor to help a new student with modifications, or the class workout was so easy that I never broke a sweat. Then, I found Corebody Pilates. What a perfect fit!

    How did you hear about Corebody Pilates Plus? What makes this studio different from other studios and gyms?

    I was looking for a good workout near my home in North County and thought I'd give Corbody Pilates Plus a shot. All of the instructors are AMAZING! Such a phenomenal workout! There are so many different workout options, all small class sizes, extremely reasonable prices and motivating hands-on instructors. There really is a treat for every type of person out there.

    What changes have you seen in yourself after you started working out here?

    My goal was to find a workout that I could semi-tolerate and that helped to strengthen my body while not aggravating my back and neck injury. This turned out to be a workout I LOVED and looked forward to. I could see a change in my body tone and waste after two months and a substantial improvement after four weeks (2 weeks at 2 days per week and then 3 days per week after that). A year later I had ab definition.

    What is your favorite Corebody Class?

    I love the PROFORMER pilates workouts.

    What would you say to someone who wants to try Corebody first time?

    Just try it! You have nothing to lose by trying it, and you'll never know what you've always wanted in a workout until you try the workout you never knew you've always wanted! I've brought friends after much nudging and have been told, "Why did I wait so long to try this with you?!"

    I am 33 years old and a native San Diegan. Being physically active is my true passion in life and has been for as long as I can remember! When I was younger, it was cheerleading (yes it is a sport!), then it was running, then I found my passion in Bikram yoga. As I get older, I realize that fitness is truly a necessity for me to have a healthy body and mind. I work in a very sedentary job, working on a computer for 8-10 hours a day as a manager for pharmaceutical research. The daily activites, running, practicing hot yoga, or the 45 minutes for this pilates class gives me a chance to blow off steam from the daily stressors and refocus my attention.

    How did you hear about Pilates Plus? What makes this studio different from other studios and gym?

    I lived in Carmel Mountain Ranch for two years and had driven past this studio often. I had never taken a Pilates class so I was a little nervous. One day I found a Groupon and bought one for 8 classes and since then I have been hooked.

    What changes have you seen in yourself after you started working out here?

    I have noticed a difference in my core strength and definition in my arms. I have also noticed that it has improved my running, which was a nice surprise.

    What is your favorite Corebody exercise?

    My favorite class is the H.I.I.T and SPX Pilates. I can’t make it to this class as often as I would like, but I like that it increases the heart rate and then works on strength in typically 3 sets.

    What would you say to someone who wants to try Corebody first time?

    Try it! Don’t be intimidated by the proformer. Show up early to learn the machine and be patient with yourself.

    I am 33 years old, have an amazing boyfriend, named Rich, and we are both proud parents of our 1 ½ year old English Bulldog “Riggs”. I have always enjoyed being active and have played soccer most of my life. Unfortunately, in April of this year, I tore my ACL for the 2nd time playing soccer. After recovering from another knee surgery, I decided it was time to hang up the cleats and find something else to do. And that is when I found Corebody!

    A coworker of mine recently joined a Pilates studio where she lives, and told me about it. After getting the green light from my Orthopedic Specialist and Physical Therapist, I took to the internet to find the closest Pilates Studio. I decided to make a visit to Corebody on my lunch break after reading all the great Yelp reviews. I recruited my sister to also come with me. And that is when we met Shilpi! She was so sweet and patient and answered all our questions. Before I knew it, we were both in her beginner class and signing up for more. .

    What is your favorite Corebody Class and what keeps you coming back?

    I really wanted to rebuild strength in my legs, hips, and core. After just one month, I not only noticed that my legs were stronger and better shaped, but I also stopped having pain in my right hip which was causing a lot of discomfort!

    Tell us about yourself and how has fitness shaped who you are today

    I have always had some kind of exercise routine, but when I retired, I wanted to take advantage of my free time and attempt new things. I wanted to remain active and did not want to become complacent. As a long time member of the Y, I started swimming and spin classes and continued to walk 2-3 days a week. I am at a point where I don't "feel right" if I don't get out and exercise on a daily basis.

    I was walking past the studio around the Holidays, soon after the opening, and it caught my attention. After speaking with Shilpi about the unique program offered in addition to the studio's location, the fact that it was new, and the small setting made me anxious to give it a try.

    What goals did you have in mind when you joined our studio? Have you seen a difference in yourself after taking classes here?

    I wanted to improve my overall fitness- gain strength and firm up. After the first class, I was hooked. It was extremely challenging, and I was determined to improve in my ability to accomplish each 45 minute routine. I began attending two days a week and most recently am up to five. I have lost inches/firmed up; overall muscle strength has improved considerably.

    What is your favorite Corebody exercise?

    I am not sure if there is a favorite since the instructors do a great job of developing new routines to challenge us. I tend to enjoy exercises on the back of the machine since they can be most challenging. For example, I definitely feel the upper body exercises using the back bar while kneeling on the platform.

    My name is Divine Cook. I am 24 years old. I was born in Virginia and moved to California in 2010. I studied musical theater at Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia and Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. My ultimate dream is to pursue acting. I absolutely love to sing, dance, and act.     I have been in dire need of losing weight and fast. When my hubby and I moved to San Diego last July and I found the studio online.

    What changes have you seen in yourself after you started working out here?

    I started seeing results immediately after the first month. I definitely had more energy and endurance after working out at the studio. I kept hearing the expression “slow-twitch muscles” and I never really understood what that meant until I saw my body slowly transforming throughout the day. For example, after the morning class, I could literally feel my body molding and sculpting while I was at work sitting in my chair. I couldn’t believe the results and how fast the workout was changing my life.

    What other changes did you make to attain your weight loss goal?

    I incorporated spin and hot yoga classes in my weekly routine. I mostly focused on Pilates, but every other day I would take a cardio-impacted class to add some variety to my workout plan. I also went on a no carbohydrate diet together with my husband. We took out breads, pastas, rice, sweets, and sodas. We only ate chicken, seafood, steak, vegetables, eggs, nuts, and fruits. We had water to drink.

    How many times do you do this workout per week?

    I started working out five times a week and if I couldn’t do five times I would at least take a minimum of four classes a week.

    What would you like to say to people who are looking to lose weight?

    In order to achieve your weight goal, you have to tell yourself “Yes, I can” to working out, and “No, to fatty foods” (and just for a little time). Ultimately, you have to discipline your mind. It’s all in your head, whether you can achieve your desired weight goal or not. You have to have already made up your mind that this is what you’re going to do and stick to it. No turning back.

    Would you recommend it to your friends?

    I would definitely recommend this to friends. I had a friend that told me about this type of fitness system years ago, but she made it seem extremely difficult for anyone that wasn’t her. She made Pilates seem impossible. That’s why after taking this class, and I feel like I can do anything. The sky is the limit.

    When I was growing up, my parents instilled in my sisters and I the importance of exercise, so I've been physically active for as long as I can remember. As the community park where I grew up, I took swimming lessons, tennis lessons, played softball, basketball and ran track. As an adult, I've been playing tennis for about 25 years. The last 5 years or so, I've enjoyed yoga and Pilates.

    How did you hear about Corebody Pilates Plus? What makes this studio different from other studios and gyms?

    I was taking Pilate classes at another local studio for about 2 years. It got boring because it was the same old routine every class, every week; plus, I experienced back problems and had about 3 months of intense therapy. When it came time to start exercising again, I knew I wanted to continue with Pilates, I just wasn't sure where. So I googled local Pilate studios and discovered Corebody. I took one class and I knew this was the place for me.

    What changes have you seen in yourself after you started working out here?

    My main goals are to be as toned and limber as I can...especially since I'm not getting any younger! Recently, I noticed that my pants were a little baggy and loose around my hips, so, I know I've lost inches. It feels so good!

    I have been into fitness all my life, from running to aerobics classes, to Jazzercise, personal training with weights, elliptical machines, treadmills, yoga, and now Pilates.     I'm a junior at Westview High school. I'm passionate about dance and can perform four different types of dances. As an animal activist, I support animal shelters by volunteering my time and love for the animals. I also love adventure sports such as zip lining, parasailing, jet skiing, scuba diving and riding ATV's. All my life, I've been in sports teams such as soccer, volleyball and basketball but I've only represented my school on the tennis team.

    I had recently signed up for the Camp Pendleton Mud Run, and knew I needed to get in shape. Without having a clear sense of what type of fitness studio I wanted to join, I Google searched various different types and found some rave reviews for Corebody Pilates Plus. I decided to give it a try, and the rest as they say is history. That was 8 months and over 100 classes ago for me.

    What changes have you seen in yourself after you started working out here?

    My goal for joining Corebody was simple - to become more physically fit. These last 8 months have resulted in a stronger core, and no lower back/leg pain as a result, as well as more strength and definition in my arms and legs. I’m very excited with the results of my workouts thus far.

    I really enjoy the TRX classes as the sets we do are extremely challenging. For example, mountain climbers are very difficult to do with the TRX, but it’s also one of my favorite exercises for that reason. Each class at CBPP is challenging, only 45 minutes, and can be personalized to your fitness level. I needed a class to push me and that is exactly why 4 months after having my baby, I came back and became a member.

    Upper body strength was always something I was lacking and can attest that I am definitely on the road to doing a push up! When doing exercises like plank-to-pike or bear, I used to do modifications, but have recently been able to do them without modifying and it feels outstanding to see the progression!

    Elevator lunges, donkey kicks, TRX arm exercises. 45 minutes of class is as long as I can take!

    Fitness was always somewhat a part of my life but much more so after high school. I found a passion for going to the gym and running, when I was in grad school I worked evenings at a gym and loved being around people who enjoyed staying fit and healthy. I then got married and had 2 beautiful children and between working, managing a family and 2 kids exercise just fell to the wayside.

    When my daughter turned 3 I realized I still hadn't lost the baby weight, I wasn't as confident in myself which had an impact on my relationship with myself and my husband. I wasn't comfortable with my own body anymore. A friend of mine suggested I try out Pilates and I bought a groupon deal for a basic pilates reformers class.     What changes have you seen in yourself after you started working out here?

    My initial goal was to lose some weight and get stronger and I can't believe the change I've seen in myself since beginning Corebody Pilates Plus. I have gone down 2-3 sizes, I have toned muscles I didn't even know that I have had! But what has made a bigger impact on me than simply losing the weight is the way I have felt since beginning here. It's hard to put into words how good and accomplished I feel after every class I take. I can truly say that becoming a part of this studio has changed my life for the better and I have become addicted to it.

    What is your favorite Corebody exercise?

    I would have to say my new favorite core body class is the H.I.I.T (Tabata/Cardio) and SPX Pilates class. This class challenges your strength & your cardio and I always leave feeling so good about myself and exhausted. This pushes me beyond what I think I'm capable of and I find that I get stronger every week I go to it.

    What would you say to someone who wants to try Corebody first time?

    I would tell them to do it! I had only tried one pilates reformer class in my life before starting here. I had no idea how to use the machines or what to expect but I immediately felt at ease. The instructor walked me through everything and gave me support whenever I needed it. It will change you in ways you never knew possible!

    My name is Barb Bezold and I am a certified nutrition consultant in Poway. I am a wife to my wonderful husband and mother to 4 adult children (one who is married with 2 children herself). I was raised in a large family that exercised through sports and general outside activities. This habit has been with me my entire life and has served me physically and mentally...getting my ya-ya's out! I cannot do life without exercise/physical movement.

    The Group SPX is my favorite so far as it covers it all. I especially love Julia's class and her 80's music.

    It is worth the time and extra money, outside of a traditional gym. It is a workout that cannot compare to a regular gym class and is very addicting. I haven't had a class yet that I walked away from and felt that it "wasn't enough". Do it!
